"Almost Famous" Video
A young teenage punk somehow gets a gig as a freelance writer for Rolling Stone magazine and follows an up-and-coming band named Sweetwater on tour for a hectic few weeks, participating in the debauchery along the way.
I would have recommended Almost Famous for the classic seventies tunes (yes I'm one of those assholes who ran out and bought the soundtrack), but the plot is engaging as well. Strong performances abound: Kate Hudson as a groupie named Penny Lane, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Creem rock critic Lester Bangs, Frances McDormand as the kid's worried mother and especially Billy Crudup as a fucked-up rock star. Crudup must be one of the most underappreciated actors working today. He kicked ass in Jesus' Son and he out acts everyone in this flick. Bottom line: Thoroughly entertaining with a great soundtrack.

Personally I really liked this film. I did think there was something missing though. We see Williams adventure kind of really start when he is told to light a candle while playing he music and he will see his future, at which point he lights it and we move on. I think it would have been a nice close to the film if after we see the start of him interviewing Hammond we go to him blowing out the candle. It also would have been a great way to fade to black at the end.

I just think your website is great! I have it as my favorites. I would like to make a correction. The band is called, Stillwater. Thanks. Keep up the good work! Yours truly Chris. Take Care.

The fictional band was named "Stillwater". When I saw this movie, the entire theater sang along with the band to Elton John's "Tiny Dancer".
