"After the Fire - Der Kommissar" Video

Amateur Video

This moronic song keeps ringing in my head like a Kafkaesque nightmare. The video itself concerns some dorks hanging out in an upscale bar, drooling over some German hottie. A tarantula crawls around for some reason. The chick looks like some refugee from a Robert Palmer video. After the Fire was around forever (well for at least a decade) in various guises before they were jolted out of obscurity with "Der Kommissar," which was actually written (in German) by the late, great Falco (see Rock Me Amadeus). Apparently, Falco originally wrote the tune for an Austrian comedy series (can anyone verify this?). Call it electro pop, the English New Wave, etc., I don't give a crap. It was a catchy tune. Period.

"Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?"

I've never seen the After The Fire video, but if you can track down the hilariously inept Falco video, it's well worth your time. It features Falco in front of a bluescreen that has been hooked up to footage shot out of the back of a car driving down the highway; he mimes some kind of jogging to suggest that he is running down the highway - even as the movement of the scene occasionally stops for red lights, etc, he jogs on with vigor.
