"I've seen you on the beach and I've seen you on TV..." Exotic locales, beautiful women and catchy tunes were the hallmarks of Duran Duran music videos during the early '80s and "Rio" was no exception.
Who could forget the summer of '82? Bands like Duran Duran, Dexy's Midnight Runners and Human League dominated the airwaves. Pot was the drug of choice. The British New Wave had arrived. Life was so full of possibilities. Duran Duran was wise enough to throw enough beautiful babes into their videos to maintain a modicum of interest. Movie trivia buffs always tell me that Duran Duran stole its name from a character in the cult film Barbarella. I hated that crappy flick!
"Rio" placed #60 on the VH1 list of 100 Greatest Videos. Capitol Records released Duran Duran The Greatest DVD Video Anthology in 2003. I ain't buying it, are you?

Rumour has it that there were two videos for "Girls on Film" and the more adult version was the world's first R rated music video.
