Jennifer Lopez - Jenny From The Block [2002]

This Is Me... Then

Yea, yea, yo, yo | We off the blocks this year | Went from a little to a lot this year | Everybody mad at the rocks that I wear | I know where I'm goin' and I know where I'm from | You hear LOX in your ear | Yea we're at the airport out | D-Glock from the block where everybody air-forced out | With a new white Tee you fresh, nothin' phoney with us | Make the money, get the mansion, bring the homies with us...

"Jennifer Lopez - Jenny From The Block" Video

The video opens with J. Lo herself dickering around in an apartment flat somewhere with apparently no curtains to the windows-and a big black strip that conveniently conceals her not-all-that-bodaciously-swollen ass. Hmm. Next, we are thrown into the glitz and glamour of J. Lo's life, of which she seems to be lamenting-oh, woe is J. Lo! We see her with fiancé Ben Affleck in tow, buying jewelry that costs more than what the average blue-collar worker earns in a year; Jenny and Benny on a yacht, with Jenny getting her rump rubbed down by Benny, it goes on and on. Then we're treated to a spectacle of 32-year-old Jenny making out in gear that would make any 16-year-old proud.>/p>

Pity whatever fool thinks this shit passes for entertainment! "I used to have a little now I have a lot | I'm still Jenny from the Block…" The stupidest, lamest lyrics ever written in a sad, pathetic attempt at good public relations. Tell all that shit to the others left behind in the Bronx face-to-face, while dripping in diamonds and furs with lil' Benny hanging onto your chiffon covered ass. "Jenny From the Block"? And which block would that be? Rodeo Drive? Give me a fucking break. NEXT!

Lately, J. Lo has attempted to follow the route of her idol, Madonna, trying to break into movies even though she has no apparent acting ability and is in fact as bland as melba toast in front of the camera. Here's what internet critic James Berardinelli had to say about her latest effort: "Maid in Manhattan isn't just predictable - it's badly acted, blandly directed, and could have been scripted by someone who just graduated from elementary school." Sounds just like Swept Away, doesn't it?
