Cyndi Lauper always seemed like a fun chick but of course there's a fine line between being fun and and coming off as being totally annoying. I enjoy "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" for the cameo from Captain Lou Albano as Cyndi's dad (that's Lauper's actual mother playing her mother in the video, by the way). The special effects in the video must have appeared quite innovative for the time but now they seem quite pedestrian and distracting. At the end Lauper leads a pack of losers through her house as Albano freaks out (the sequence itself is a "tribute" if not a total ripoff of the famous stateroom scene from The Marx Brothers' classic film, A Night at the Opera).
