City City - The Network [2008]

"City City - The Network" Video

Electro-Pop band City City spent their first year and a half in a bedroom. To work all day every day, one took an overnight job, one moved out of his apartment, and one procrastinated (but still finished) his masters degree in composition. Producer Jeff Kirchner and Vocalist Dan McCollister met in July of 2005 in Los Angeles. They never knew each other growing up but were both born and raised in Nebraska. The year before, Kirchner and guitarist Kyle Minichelli worked together delivering pizzas and occasionally met after work to play music. Once all three convened, it was obvious they would be in each others lives forever.

Three years later, the band has expanded adding accomplished Silverlake bassist Valerie Ngai and drummer Jarrett Portnoy (who is from, you guessed it, Nebraska). Portnoy grew up idolizing Kirchner's home town band and jumped at the opportunity to play drums along side him. The band has played all over Los Angeles at venues, including The Viper Room, The Knitting Factory, Spaceland, and The Silverlake Lounge.

On May 13th, 2010, they released their first full feature music video. Directed by accomplished commercial director Bo Mirossenni (Starburst, Skittles, Virgin Mobil, ESPN), the video was a true "do it yourself" production. All of the locations, crew, and equipment were acquired through friends with no major label backing.  The concept and set design; all independent.  The song and video express a shared loathing of television, advertising and cable news.

City City is currently booking summer dates and in talks with festivals all over the country.
