A sixteen-time World Heavyweight Champion, the "Nature Boy" stands among the greats of the wrestling business. His career spans more than 35 years and includes runs in the AWA, NWA, WCW and the WWE (formerly WWF). "Slick Ric's" mic skills propelled him to the top of the wrestling business when storylines and interviews were prized more then sheer muscle mass. Elaborate robes, a mane of platinum blonde hair, loud chops, an eye poke, the Figure Four leglock, and the Flair Flop have made "The Dirtiest Player in the Game" one of the legends of wrestling. To Be the Man, Flair's autobiography, was published in 2004. Flair's storied professional wrestling career came to an end at WrestleMania XXIV on March 30, 2008, when he was defeated by Shawn Michaels.
In 2007, Flair ventured into the political realm with his vocal support for Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who later dropped out of the race. Flair has hinted that he may run for the governorship of North Carolina in the future.

Hard to belive that anyone could still wrestle at his age.he was one of the luckey ones to get out alive. How many 59 year old men could do half of what he can still do in the ring. Rick Flair will be missed!!

Well Flair has went through a lot. He alsmot died in a tragic airplane accident when he just got into wrestling. Other wrestlers died in the accident but Flair survived. You can do a web search on his life and more on the accident.

"Space Mountain may be the oldest ride in the park, but it still has the longest line, baby! WOOOOOOO!!!" All reminiscences aside though, let's hope Ric comes to his senses and doesn't make a return to wrestling while he's in TNA. After all, Abdullah the Butcher is set to make another comeback (I believe it's going to be with the Insane Clown Posse's "Juggalo" wrestling promotion). He's just asking for trouble because he is over 70 years old. Flair isn't quite that old, but he's knocking real hard on the door of 60 and should probably stay as a manager, for the sake of his health if not for his reputation. (Imagine that - the "dirtiest player in the game" has an AARP card!)

The figure-four leg lock was very likely the greatest wrestling move ever created (possibly second only to the "pile-driver"). I lived below a wrestler at one time and asked him to "put it on me gently." He did so very gently, and you would not believe the pain from simple leverage!! Flair ended many of his matches with this devastating move and I do bleieve that very often the pain and anguish you saw on the opposing wrestler's face was real. It is a move where there is no external physical or long-lasting damage (like cutting their foreheads with razors) and no bruises. Maybe that is why Flair picked that particular close. I would love to know who taught it to him....

Rick Flair, the very best in the world!! Very sad day when the 16 time champ hung up the boots, but he will be remember as the man! not enough words to describe what Mr. Flair has meant to the Wrestling World! He will always be the real champion!! I will miss watching him, this sport will never be the same!

Tonight March 31, 2008 was a sad night for wrestling and wrestling fans around the world with the announcement of Ric Flair's retirement. He is one of the last great legends of his time and I sure wrestling will never be the same. We will miss you Ric.
